RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A northern Wake County woman was arrested in Charlotte this week after a child abduction was reported Monday in Vance County, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office said.

Following the child abduction report on Monday, Vance County detectives “developed information” that led them to believe the investigation would involve the Charlotte area, a Vance County Sheriff’s Office news release said.
“During the investigation, detectives utilized the department’s Flock Safety camera system to identify and track the vehicle being operated by the suspect,” Vance County deputies said in the news release.
Authorities then relayed the vehicle info to officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, which allowed “officers to quickly locate the vehicle and the suspect,” the release said.

Charlotte officers found the child, who was not injured, the release said.

The child was taken into protective custody and was reunited with a parent.
Candice Deyoung, 44, of the New Light area of Wake County, was also found and arrested, charged with abduction of children, and jailed in Mecklenburg County, the release said.
Deyoung was transported to the Vance County Detention Center, where she is currently being held, officials said.
