WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in Wake Forest said they have obtained an arrest warrant for a man following a chase into Durham that led to an officer crashing and injuring two people.

The incident began Wednesday evening in Wake Forest when a 47-year-old Durham man fled in a car from police officers, according to a town of Wake Forest news release Sunday.
The chase continued into Durham when the pursuing police officer crashed into an uninvolved car near the Durham intersection of Holloway and Raynor streets, the news release said.
The driver and a passenger of the car hit by the officer were injured and taken to a nearby hospital, Wake Forest officials said.
The Wake Forest news release said John Flowers Jr. is facing charges linked to the chase.

“Flowers has also been identified as a person of interest for his role in a series of organized retail thefts at home improvement stores throughout the area,” the news release said.
On Sunday, the Wake Forest news release included a photo of Flowers in a store.

Officials said that in the chase, Flowers is facing charges that include flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, speeding, and driving while license revoked.
CBS 17 has asked Wake Forest officials where the chase began and what triggered the pursuit.
Wake Forest officials said anyone with information about Flowers should contact the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-435-9610 and that callers may remain anonymous.
