Water rescue underway at Raleigh pond after witness reports swimmer vanished

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Raleigh fire crews are conducting a water rescue at an East Millbrook Road pond after a witness reported a swimmer vanished, officials said.

The rescue call started just after 4:05 p.m. at a pond at 2411 East Millbrook Road between Atlantic Avenue and Hargrove Road, according to a Raleigh Fire Department official.

Crews responded after a witness reported that a swimmer seen in the pond earlier was no longer visible.

Boat crews were deployed and at least one drone was requested to help with the search.
