CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman was arrested and charged with murder after a deadly weekend shooting in a Creedmoor neighborhood, police said Friday.

The shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Irving Place in a neighborhood off South Elm Street in southwest Creedmoor, according to a Creedmoor town news release.
Upon arrival, police said they found an adult suffering from at least two gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died at the scene, police said.
“Detectives immediately began an investigation, collecting evidence, conducting interviews, and working diligently to identify those responsible,” police said in a Friday news release.

Sunday morning, the home at 1635 Irving Place was still partially surrounded by crime scene tape, and a Creedmoor police officer was parked outside.

Creedmoor officials said the relationship between those involved was part of the investigation.
On Friday, police announced that Kelly Marie Royster, 38, of Creedmoor, was arrested on Thursday on a murder charge.
Court documents identify the slain person as Charles Tyrone Royster Jr., who was 28, according to his obituary.
The name of the person who was killed was not released by police.

“I want to personally thank every member of the Creedmoor Police Department who worked tirelessly on this case,” Creedmoor Police Chief Troy Wheless said in the release.
