Hot & humid again across central North Carolina

The heat and humidity are making another comeback for us in central North Carolina. After a comfortable Tuesday, Wednesday will be back in the 90s, with upper 90s arriving Thursday.

Thursday’s high temperature forecast is 98° in Raleigh, which would tie the record set back in 2015.

The humidity will also be increasing, which will take heat index values (or what it feels like) back into the triple digits. A stray shower and storm are possible, but our best chance for rain arrives Friday.

Friday we’re tracking a cold front, which could interact with tropical moisture, bringing central North Carolina much-needed rain. For most of us, the rain will likely total less than one inch, but isolated higher totals are possible where any heavier downpours set up. Fortunately, the front will move out of central North Carolina by Friday night, leading to a dry weekend.

That also means the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Championship Parade, set for Saturday at 11 a.m., should be rain-free. If the forecast holds, temperatures will be in the 80s during the parade with clearing skies.

Partly cloudy skies and lower 90s return for Father’s Day Sunday, before middle 90s with scattered showers and storms make a return the next week.
