The Hurricanes shut out the Las Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final earlier this month, followed by a massive downtown Raleigh parade and celebration this past weekend.
The Hurricanes — which moved from Hartford, where they were the Whalers — played their early seasons in Greensboro while awaiting the completion of their arena in Raleigh.
The preseason in September brings the Hurricanes back to Greensboro for the first time since the 1999 season. The Canes played in Greensboro in the 1997–98 and 1998–99 seasons.

The game in Greensboro will take place at First Horizon Coliseum, home of the club’s ECHL affiliate Greensboro Gargoyles, on Thursday, Sept. 24, when Carolina will host the Nashville Predators.
