Heat and storms remain, but brief relief is in sight for central NC

Our summertime pattern is still hanging on across central North Carolina. After another afternoon and evening with spotty storms, one more round is possible Thursday.

The chance for rain is lower on Thursday, and the risk for severe weather is also much lower, but an isolated gusty storm is still possible that afternoon.

High temperatures will climb back into the mid-90s with high humidity again making it feel like the triple digits. Friday still has a chance of rain, but it’s much lower than in the past few days.

This weekend will still be hot, but a weak cold front will bring a few changes to the forecast. Saturday will still be hot with highs in the 90s and scattered rain chances, but as the cold front slides through Sunday, highs will only reach the upper 80s. It would be the first time since the end of June that highs will stay in the 80s. Monday will also be in the 80s before the 90s return to the forecast.
