FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Fayetteville Police Department has made an arrest after officers found a man dead during a welfare check last week.

On Sept. 11, police were called to do a welfare check in the area of Pelt Drive and Carlyle Street around 7:49 p.m. Once on scene, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified Sunday as 70-year-old Odin Norris Jr.
On Monday, Fayetteville police said 38-year-old Wilson Watson has been arrested in connection to the deadly incident. He is being charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to police.

He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond, court records show. His first appearance before a judge is set for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
