Temperatures and humidity taking major dip Tuesday in central NC

Our recent heat and humidity are taking a break, but just for a couple of days.

Highs on Tuesday will rise into the lower 80s, with Wednesday featuring the mid-80s and continued low humidity.

Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s on a few mornings. If we manage to reach the upper 50s in Raleigh, it would be the first time since June 20. 

Then the hotter weather makes a comeback towards the end of the week and the weekend, as we warm back into the lower 90s and it gets stickier again. 

It will also remain mostly dry the entire week, with just spotty shower chances by the weekend. 

Fall officially arrives next Tuesday evening. Right on time, temperatures will take another dip back into the lower 80s as the new season begins. A few scattered showers and storms will also be around. 

The tropics remain mostly quiet for this time in the year. But we are tracking one area of disturbance in the central subtropical Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center has given the area a 40 percent chance of development over the next 7 days as it moves to the west-northwest and could become at least a tropical depression.

There are still 76 days remaining in the official hurricane season.

TUESDAY will be mostly sunny with lower humidity. The high will be 84. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 miles per hour. 

OVERNIGHT will be mostly clear and cooler. The low will be 61. Winds will be light out of the east. 

WEDNESDAY will be sunny. The high will be 86. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 miles per hour.
