While it will still be hot in the 90s, it will be more typical of what is normal for this time of year. Additionally, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and evening pretty much every day this week, providing at least some relief from the prolonged stretch of dry weather.

While it won’t be a washout, any storm that develops could produce torrential downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds. Localized heavy rainfall will be possible where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

By the middle of next week, the historic heat wave will have eased, but you should still expect highs back into the lower and middle 90s with plenty of humidity. This will also fuel scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. It will still feel like summer, but temperatures will be much closer to average, with periodic storms providing brief relief from the heat.
