Summer pattern with heat and storms continue for central NC

We have fully settled into our summertime pattern where every day is hot, humid, and comes with a chance for storms. That was the case again today and will be the case most of this week.

By Wednesday, central North Carolina is again under a level 1 marginal risk for severe weather for the afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the most likely threat in addition to heavy rain and lightning as highs in the mid-90s will again help storms develop and become strong quickly.

While we have chances for rain nearly every day in the forecast, no day is expected to be a washout. Storms will be spotty to scattered, with some picking up much needed rain while others stay dry. By late in the week, rain chances will decrease slightly, but won’t be gone completely.

While the week will still be hot with highs in the middle 90s and at times feeling like the triple digits, we don’t have any actual highs around 100. This doesn’t mean it won’t be uncomfortably or dangerously hot, because high humidity will make it feel just a little hotter every day.
