RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — More than $105,000 was raised for the Poe Center for Health Education in Raleigh during its 35th anniversary celebration last week, the nonprofit said Thursday.

The funding will be used to support health-science education for more than 2,100 children and youth across North Carolina, according to the Poe Center.
According to the Poe Center, more than 150 businesses and community leaders attended the 35th anniversary celebration, which featured a silent auction, annual awards ceremony, and live cooking demonstration.

The nonprofit said guests explored the Poe Center’s interactive health education theaters during the event. They were among the first to experience “Wired: The Teen Brain Experience”, designed for middle and high school students.

According to the Poe Center, the anniversary celebration was supported by 22 local businesses, foundations, and individuals and more than 50 annual partners.
“The Poe Center’s success depends on community support,” Poe Center Executive Director Ann Rollins said in a statement. “When people come together to invest in the physical and mental well-being of our children and communities, the entire state benefits. None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors and donors.”
