As of 11 a.m., the system was located southwest of the Azores with winds of 35 miles per hour, currently moving north at two miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center.
If the storm is able to gain tropical storm strength, as it is forecast to, it will take on the name Fay before dissipating early next week over the open Atlantic.
The tropical disturbance was forecast Friday to have a 70 percent chance of forming into a system with that chance rising to 90 percent earlier on Saturday morning.

We have yet to see our first hurricane of the year. This system is not forecast to gain hurricane strength, so the record-breaking season is likely to continue.
